Strip-sugaring, what and why?
Sugaring, Strip Sugaring, Sugar Waxing! Many of us might have heard about these terms and even use the system as a hair removal option. Many of us prefer a salon treatment when it comes to hair removal, simply because salons always have the equipment ready, whether it’s for preparation of the hair removal product, or applying it. At Sugar StripEase, our aim is to make hair removal simple, easy, and cost effective. Hence, we would like to talk a bit about ‘Strip Sugaring’, and why is it an effective way of hair removal which is cost effective in this economic climate.
Before explaining the key differences between strip-sugaring and waxing, I would like to begin by saying that strip-sugaring is a 100% natural way of hair removal, as the product uses ingredients like water, lemon, and honey and no chemicals at all. So let’s have a look at how effective can Strip-Sugaring be!
Preparation: Whether its waxing or sugaring, the product is always more effective when it’s warm. Professional waxing generally involves warming the product in a wax-heater. This is where it becomes easier to go to the salon and get it done, as not everyone has a wax heater at home, but it is much more expensive to go to a beauty salon as opposed to doing the treatment at home. When it comes to strip-sugaring, the product can be warmed in the microwave for just about a minute, and it stays warm for a period of 30-40 minutes to complete the hair removing process.
Stickiness: Any hair removal product has to stick to the hair in order to pull it, and that’s exactly what strip-sugaring does, it sticks to the hair and not the skin. On the other hand waxing sticks to both the hair and skin, which is why it also pulls a thin layer of your skin. Now this leads us nicely to our next point.
Pain: Because waxing sticks to the skin and pulls it out, it is more painful, and might not suit sensitive skins. Sugar-stripping suits all kinds of skins due to its natural ingredients, and also the fact that it does not stick to and pull the skin, means pain-free treatment.
In-grown hair: Coming back to the point of stickiness, we know that waxing also pulls off a thin layer of your skin. While that layer of skin grows back, the hair is also growing, causing that hair to get trapped under the skin. This leads to ingrown hair. Strip-sugaring completely eliminates these problems and is guaranteed to avoid any side effects due to hair removal.
Easy to Clean Up: Wax contains resins, which makes you feel sticky once you are finished waxing. Sugar is extremely easy to clean up with water as it is completely water soluble.
Sanitary and sensitive: Sugaring for hair removal is a hypo-allergenic product as it’s natural and therefore can be applied to all parts of the body. It can even be used by those who have sensitive skin. Wax is a product of chemical formulas, and often results in a skin reaction due to the harsh resins.
Long lasting effect: Since strip-sugaring pulls the hair from its roots, the result is that you do not have to implement the process again for about 4-6 weeks. Shaving might be quick and easy, and less painful. However, it’s a temporary solution as it has to be repeated every other day, and this could be damaging to the skin.
The above does not rule out the effectiveness of other products like wax, creams, etc for hair removal. Everyone likes options, and we thought we would talk about a natural, healthy, and cost effective option of hair removal, known as ‘Strip-sugaring’.

Beauty Tips
Before using Sugar StripEase we recommended that you exfoliate your skin. Gently rub a loofa or flannel in the opposite direction of the hair growth. This action will help the hair to stand loose from the skin. A tradition amongst Asians brides is making a paste by mixing chick pea flour with Rose water and a pinch of turmeric. Apply this to the face, arms and legs, leave it for a few minutes and wash it off. You will notice how smooth your skin feels. This is performed as a ceremony in the lead up to the wedding day.

Waxing’s too painful. Is there an alternative wax removal method? Daily Mail 5th November 2009
Try sugaring. Used by women for thousands of years, this technique is less painful than waxing, but will give you hair-free, smooth skin.
Sugar StripEase, £9.99, victoriahealth.com, is easier to use than the old sugaring products. You microwave it in the jar, apply to the skin, then remove using strips, which can be washed and re-used.

SINCE WHEN WAS HAIR REMOVAL SEXY? WELL, SINCE NOW…
… Because Sugar StripEase is feminine and fun, taking the chore out of de-fuzzing – designed to leave skin touch-me smooth and gorgeous. Sugaring may be a time honoured tradition – but it’s been brought up to date for the 21st Century with Sugar StripEase: the perfect, natural alternative to toxic-smelling hair removal creams and messy waxes, which so often trigger skin irritations.
Sugar StripEase’s creators have unrivalled expertise in the area of sugaring. (Ssssh, don’t tell a soul, but they created the original sugaring product for Body Shop, for 20 years a bestseller.) Based on their insights into what women really want from hair removal, they have now devised the ultimate, new-and-improved sugaring product, with the optimum blend of pure sugar syrups for easy application – and swift, pain-free removal. ‘The ingredients may be simple,’ explains Rosie Khandwala of Aqua Natural (one half of the husband-and-wife duo behind Sugar StripEase, which is made in the UK). ‘But it’s vital to get the proportion of ingredients – and the consistency – right…’ Traditionally, sugar is blended with lemon juice – but for ultra-gentleness, using their formulating expertise, Rosie and her husband Hafiz have eliminated the lemon – to avoid any risk of skin ‘touchiness’ or trauma, while remaining ultra-effective.
Sugar StripEase isn’t just chemical-free: based on 100% natural ingredients, the exclusive formulation is literally good-enough-to-eat (you could spread it on your toast!), and can be used on all areas of the body – from upper lip to bikini line, legs to underarms. (Sugar StripEase is also BUAV-approved as cruelty-free, with its status highlighted in the Living Without Cruelty handbook.) This skin-softening blend has been formulated to be microwaveable, retaining its heat in the jar so you have plenty of ‘playtime’ to treat the areas you wish to blitz. The pliable sugar syrup is applied to the skin using natural fabric strips (which make for so-easy removal) – and since these can be washed and re-used many times, Sugar StripEase is the ultimate eco-choice for anyone on a quest for satin-smooth, fuzz-free skin. (Sugar StripEase has a long shelf life, with no need for preservatives.)
Sugaring has been tried-and-tested by women over thousands of years. In Eastern cultures (India, Africa and the Orient), the art is passed down from mother to daughter; in Muslim tradition, the ritual of hair removal is strictly observed for hygiene purposes – and sugaring is used on every zone of the body, effectively tackling even the darkest hair. What’s more, if sugaring (as opposed to other techniques for hair removal) is started early, it actually helps to diminish hair growth so that fewer treatments are needed, as we age. Unlike many hair removal systems, Sugar StripEase eliminates the risk of in-grown hairs, as hair re-growth will always be in its natural direction.
The result? Skin is super-soft and smooth as your finest silk underwear. (Which is presumably why Renee Zellweger has chosen it as one of her favourite beauty products…) Sexy? You bet…
